We’ve all seen the impact of Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, Google, and a host of many other businesses that have made great strides in the world in which we live and the influence it has had on our lives. As I reflect on this year and the coming year and the future of my life, what really comes to my mind is the realization that we are in a season of great acceleration.
We are in a day and age when things are more easily and readily obtained, achieved, created and done. Knowing this has great significance and implications to not only society in whole, but especially the body of Christ. We are aware of scripture that tells us that the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just, and many are in expectation that they will be one of those who will experience that great shift and transfer. We also read scriptures that tell us about the acceleration of time when the plowman shall overtake the one that sows, but do we consider how we would handle it? In Deuteronomy 28:1- 10 it speaks to how obedience to God and his word leads to His blessings overtaking us. Ask yourself, “Am I truly ready?”
I watch shows like How I Made My Million and The Lottery Changed My Life, and it is a reminder to me that even though there are more avenues and means by which people are getting to where they want to be in life, not all lead to way that is sustainable and desirable. So how can you capitalize on this season of acceleration?
- Vision: Helen Keller once said, “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.” Without the proper vision, there is no need to even think that you can participate in this season of acceleration. Having the understanding that this season is all about seizing the opportunities that are available. Seeing them will put you in a position that will be advantageous.
- Preparation: In everything, preparation is key and a foundational principle that will enable you to have sustainability and be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Many people over the last 25 years have succumbed to what is now known as the “O” effect. The number one reason most businesses fail, especially when it comes to this kind of acceleration is mostly due to a lack of preparation. No one expects the level of growth or is able to capitalize and thereby lose out very quickly.
- Connections: Having the right people around you makes a world of difference. People who are more knowledgeable than you or have been where you want to be can be a great asset to you in the time of great acceleration. Henry Ford has been hailed as the man who automated the automobile industry. People also know that he never graduated from college. He is not alone in this. A great many who are wealthy did not obtain their wealthy through the educational system. But what Henry Ford has been touted as saying is that he surrounded himself with educated people who had the expertise in the areas that enabled him to do what he was able to do.
No man is an island unto himself and it’s is clear to see that people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zukerberg are each men who had vision, knew the value of being prepared and having good people around them as their businesses took flight. We can miss out on this season of acceleration just as easily as the person who didn’t believe that man could fly.
I encourage you in this season, to do what is necessary for you to be a participator and not just a spectator in the acceleration of time. Make strides to have a vision, become prepared, and surround yourself with the right people.
QUESTION: What things are you doing to be a part of this season of acceleration?
