In An Apple for the Road, Pam Spinosi compiles stories from the lives of several leaders from Bethel Church. What is so fascinating about this book is that each story stands alone, yet in it’s set up through three core themes, they actually build to a crescendo of life experiences that you can relate to or aspire to. The wealth of insight in each person who contributed to this book is a revelation of how much Goddesires of to have a place in every aspect of our lives.
What makes this book so fascinating is that broken up into three sections: Loving God, Loving Others, and Living Life. You get to see yet a common thread emerge as you see how God desires to have intimacy with us, how He allows us to find intimacy in relating with one another, as well as seeing how He desires to reveal His favor upon us even what we do in and throughout our lives.
What I love about this book is that it is easily digestable and relatable. You feel as though they’ve ben where you’ve been or are currently. What is expressed is down to earth and not over the top. You get a feeling that no matter what your place in your relationship with God is, there is something to be gained and with what is shared, you’ll be okay. It’s like having an apple for your journey.
