It’s been quite some time that I’ve felt so compelled to read a book simply on the basis of how much talk has been generated over it. However, when I decided to dive into the pages of Jonathan Cahn’s book The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future, that’s exactly what happened.
I happen to like novels, especially when the are of a biblical or religious nature. I love to see the imagination of authors who can delve into substantive topics that have a moral context to it as well. Mysteries are also something that captivate me because I like the idea of solving something that appears hidden.
Jonathan Cahn‘s book takes something that is presently relevant to our nation and writes about it in such a way that it seems far-fetched, yet it is so filled with revelation and prophetic meaning, you cannot overlook the fact that much of what is in it has indeed happened, and brings an awareness that the story, even when finished, is far from over.
What I love about the book is that it gives you a greater sense and context for why what we are seeing take place in the world is taking place. It is a narrative told from the perspective of the one who has been charged with the task of relaying the mystery that has been revealed. Like a reluctant hero, the key figure in this book wants to know the truth, yet doesn’t relish the idea of what is eventually discovered or what knowing it means he must do in light of learning all that has been learned.
There is a downside to this book. At least from my point of view, I find that even as much as I enjoyed the fact that there is much emphasis on the importance of each layer of revelation that is uncovered, like an onion that must be peeled back layer by layer. It is this same thing that, for me, made it a less appealing book to read because of the constant repetitiveness of each detail.
This book is for anyone who wishes to understand the things that have taken place, are taking place and what it means for the nation in the coming years. It’s for anyone who may not necessarily understand the truth or be able to digest it in the context of a biblically taught sermon. This book is for anyone who has an ear to hear what the Lord is saying to the Church and the nation.
