Why We Want You To Be Rich: Two Men, One Message [Review]

It’s an amazing thing to recall that just slightly more than a decade ago I was deeply engrossed in all things Rich Dad and remembering that this collaborative book by Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump was being introduced. They were two men that I admired for their business savvy and perspectives. I happen to love to follow innovators and leaders of industry and business. Why I had not picked up this work until now is anybody’s guess. Perhaps I was not ready for this one at the time, but seeing how much the nation over the last decade has changed, I truly felt compelled to pick this one up.

As the book suggests, this is the collective thoughts of two men who have made millions of dollars. One in real estate and financial education and the other in  real estate development. Each has a unique perspective on what it means to be rich and give their uncut and raw thoughts on why anyone reading it should be rich. Some people have it in their mind that it is impossible for everyone to be rich and that for someone to prosper, someone else has to become impoverished. That couldn’t be further from the truth and each of these two distinguished gentlemen give their insight on how that is possible.

What I found to be of great interest is not just the reasoning for why they want others to be rich but the things that they tell you about what it takes to become such a person. There are things that you have to be willing to do, things you have to be willing to give up, and things you have to be willing to become. Doing your homework and due diligence is a starting place for something to do. Giving up your identity of who you currently are and your ego is something you may have to give up. You have to be willing to become your greatest self and ignore those who want to keep you where you are.

I’d recommend this book for anyone who thinks they know who these men are. You don’t really know someone until you truly see how they became who they are and why they do what they do. Many people think they know why it is that Donald Trump became president and still have no clue, despite it being all laid out in his writings. Many people that rich people like Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump don’t know what it is to be on the other side of life, yet these men, if not by personal experience, at least by the experience of others know what wealth can enable a person to do.

One of the things that I know that wealth has provided for each of these men is the ability to be more giving. The ability to be charitable with time, money and other resources is something that you are afforded when you are rich. It’s hard to think of the needs of others when you are a person who is in great need. So wealth can provide that freedom.

Freedom is a wonderful thing and anyone who wants to know what that looks like and feel like should also read this book. These men experience freedoms like very few do, yet also believe that it is possible for anyone to achieve if only willing to pursue it. I highly recommend this if you are in search of a better life with better options.

QUESTION: If You’ve read this book, did it give you a reason for wanting to be rich? If so, what was it? If you haven’t read this, would you be willing to read it? If not, why not?
