Hopefully, by this time you have had enough time to get acclimated to the new year. It’s been amazing to see how many people have declared that this will be a year of either doors or wars. I can see the potential for both wars and doors. I see doors as the open possibilities of seizing the moments and opportunities that God will present us to bring healing in whatever mountains of cultural influence that we occupy. I see wars also that are presenting themselves as there will no doubt be great resistance to those of us who dare to be culture healers.
We are in a leap year this year and it gives us one additional day to be salt and light in each of the mountains. One of the major mountains of focus this year will undoubtedly be the mountain of government. With the presidential election entering the primaries and eventually the general election, this will be heating up to determine where this nation will be heading over the next few years. As critical as the presidential seat is, what is more critical is the national resolve to shore up election integrity at every level of government. It is just as important that those elected are those who truly are representatives of the people who elected them and not people who are entering with self-interest or in the interests of the elite.
As Daniels and Esthers, what can you do in such a time as this to ensure the integrity of government and the safety of the people? Culture healers are salt and light wherever they go, so bringing light to the issues at hand is essential to properly align how the government functions.
The doors of opportunity are wide on the mountain of business as both robotics and artificial intelligence boast to make leaps in automation and innovation. We’re already seeing disruptions occur and a shakeup that is transitioning the landscape of businesses as they try to transition and keep up with the changes. As Josephs on the mountain of business, what answers can you bring to the pharaohs who are fighting to remain prosperous or survive through the famine?
Several areas must be addressed in 2024 when it comes to the mountain of education. One issue is “diversity, equity, and inclusion”. We’re already seeing the havoc that it has had in corporate America, and it poses an even greater threat in education as it not only removes the idea of merit-based assessments but also conditions young minds that “fairness” is “equity” and “equity” is “equality.”
There is no doubt that there must be processes and procedures established to give all students access to quality education, and there needs to be support systems to enable students who have learning challenges such as ADD. ADHD, and other mental or physical impairments, the dream that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, seems to have been misunderstood, as DEI does the opposite of judging people based on the content of character and instead judges solely on race.
Another issue that faces the mountain of education is the protection of student innocence and the rights of parents. There was a time when the educational system was a place where students could respect educators to watch out for them with a sense of privilege that parents could trust they would not treat students in a way that conflicted with how they would. Now, parents wonder if the child they send to school will be the same child that is returned to them. Culture healers need to be able to engage on this mountain to restore parents’ trust and teach without any agenda other than to prepare students to be civil citizens able to live life beyond the classroom.
These aren’t the only mountains where there are open doors or where wars are being waged, but they are critical ones for this year that must be addressed. As culture healers, you must find the door or doors that are open to you to engage and have an impact upon. My prayer is that you will see where your open door is and go through it, expecting to make a significant difference and bring healing where it is needed most.
