What’s Your Measure for Success?
It seems that everyone has a distinct measure of success. Some consider how much money they make in a week, month, year, or lifetime as a great measure of success. There are others who consider how many wins or goals are met as a great measure of success. With that last one, there are others still who believe that success is a matter of how much they have conquered or dominated their competition (perceived or real).
Using Your Gifting to Create Healing
One of the greatest things that God did when He created us, is that He gave us the ability to be creative like Him. Creativity comes in all forms. However, many people find it challenging to figure out how they are creative. It’s as though that part of our nature was not introduced to us. In reality, many of the things that we’ve done or were introduced to as children, follow us into our adult lives.
A Culture Healer from Birth
Christmas is just days away and most people who are celebrating are going to focus on the excitement of winter, the gifts, time with family, and the feel that they get when December 25th rolls around. Of course, you’ll have many church pastors who will be focused on preaching about the birth of Jesus, the wise men, and shepherds who showed up at the manger to worship him, and perhaps Mary and Joseph’s tough decision to hearken to the voice of God through the angelic visitations that they each had. As I have been sharing over the last few posts about us being culture healers, I could not miss this opportunity to share some insights into the early days of Jesus who is our model culture healer.
How Great is Your Vision?
Several years ago, I heard someone preach a message entitled “Your Vision is Too Small!” That message was so dynamic because it caused me to wonder whether or not I truly had a vision for my life that was as grand as it could possibly be.
Parents and Families Are the First Layer of Defense
Culture Healers cannot ignore the reality that we’re seeing the war that is being waged over the next generation… How close are we to destroying a generation when we will not protect children from making permanent decisions over a temporary circumstance?
Discernment is Recognizing the Difference
Recently I was reading through Matthew chapter 13. If you’re familiar with this particular chapter in the Bible, you’re probably aware that this is where Jesus shares a parable of the seed and the Sower. In the process of teaching, Jesus points out to the disciples how the Kingdom works. He illustrates that there is […]
You’re Already a History Maker
It’s amazing how often I hear someone say that they want to make history or they hope to be a history maker. The reason I say that it is amazing is that the reality is that everyone is a history maker the moment they’re born. From the time a person enters through the birth canal into this life, they are walking out history.
Something Has to Change
Think of all the times you’ve said the same thing. You say to yourself that you wish you saw a change in the government. You say you wish you saw a change in Hollywood. You’ve probably said you wish you saw a change in your relationships or in the trajectory of your career. Whatever the case may be, when you discover that thing that needs to change, the reality is that you may not necessarily be able to change the large or abstract thing directly. There are times when the easiest thing that you can do is to change yourself or your perspective.
Why Stretch?
Earlier this year, the leader of one of the ministry trainings that I participated in began by saying that those of us who were there were going to be (in no uncertain terms) stretched. There are many ways in which we can be stretched. Some people stretch physically as a means of exercise, discipline, and gaining a command of the body. Some people stretch mentally as a means to broaden their capacity to think more broadly. Some people stretch spiritually as a means to a greater connection with God.
Is Your Outward Creative Expression Born from Your Inward Communion?
There are often times when I hear people ask the question of how so much great creativity flows from another person. It’s understandable to see the vast imaginations and expressions of creativity unfold before us as though it was something that just happened. The reality of the matter is that it never just happens. It’s actually a reflection of the internal work of the one who created it.
